Hermit Prov

Privacy Policy — Effective May 2026

Short version

Hermit Prov does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Everything stays on your device.

What data the app stores

Hermit Prov stores the following data locally on your device only:

None of this data leaves your device unless you explicitly export it using the in-app backup feature.

What the app does not do

Text-to-speech

Hermit Prov uses the operating system's built-in text-to-speech engine to read suggestions aloud in Hands-Free Mode. No audio is recorded or transmitted. The app does not request microphone permission.

Crash reports

Hermit Prov does not automatically send crash reports. If the app crashes, you may be offered the option to send a report. This is strictly opt-in and requires your explicit action each time.

If you choose to send a report, it may include technical details such as the error message, device OS version, app version, and which screen was active. Crash reports never include your custom suggestions or journal entries.

Your data and how to delete it

All locally stored data can be deleted at any time from Settings. You can also uninstall the app to remove all data from your device.

Hermit Prov does not retain any copy of your data after deletion. There is no server-side backup to erase.

Children

Hermit Prov is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from children.

Open source

Hermit Prov is free, open-source software licensed under the GNU General Public License v3. The source code is available at github.com/jpalicke/hermit_prov_app.
